Hermes Agent, the open-source AI agent, has shipped a wave of updates, and this video from Alex Finn walks through ten of the most useful new features along with his current setup.
The centerpiece is bot mode in Hermes Desktop, which lets users create and manage several bots at once, each with its own profile, memory, personality and tools. Rather than assigning human-style roles such as developer or marketer, Finn recommends building one bot per model so each task goes to the model that handles it best: a GPT-6 bot for building, Claude Opus 5 for front-end work, and a Qwen bot running on a local model on an NVIDIA DGX Spark for free everyday tasks. He also suggests adding Grok for cheap coding and Meta’s coding models for fast work.
Other features covered include advanced local model support, which detects a computer’s hardware, picks a suitable model and sets up a bot automatically, much like LM Studio. The video also shows a Hermes HUD, an always-on-top overlay that can see the screen and help in the middle of a game or any other app, plus a ChatGPT-style real-time voice mode that can query and delegate to other agents using an OpenAI API key. Finn also compares how he uses Hermes against Grokbot and ChatGPT for different jobs.
