Summary
At OpenAI DevDay 2026, the team re-ran a demo of Dots, OpenAI’s AI agent product, after the previous day’s launch demo did not go as planned. This time the presenter shows how they use their own Dot for real work, unedited.
The demo starts with a phone call to the Dot about a last-minute trip to Los Angeles. The presenter asks for a refundable, company-policy-compliant flight that leaves by 10 a.m., plus hotel options in East LA with screenshots and map views. The Dot finds Southwest flight options, weighs whether a landing around 1 p.m. leaves enough time to reach Hollywood by 3 p.m. given airport and traffic estimates, suggests an earlier arrival, and prepares a one-night booking at Silver Lake Pool and Inn while verifying price and cancellation terms.
The presenter then hands the Dot a second task: analyzing the product’s user feedback channel. They ask for the biggest themes, which problems have fixes and which have none, and a more concrete workflow for capturing feedback. The Dot describes the current manual process of grouping items, linking them to Linear tickets and matching them to pull requests, and proposes closing the loop with replies that link PRs and ask users to retest. It identifies the top theme as users being unable to tell whether their Dot is working, including missing replies and tool access failures.
