STOP Using Claude Code without this tool

Descriptions:

Alex Finn walks through a workflow that pairs Claude Code (or Codex) with Linear, a free project management platform, to bring more structure and speed to AI-assisted app development. Rather than prompting an AI coding agent with loose instructions, the approach uses Linear as a persistent task board: Claude reads prioritized issues, each with detailed acceptance criteria and sequencing, so it always knows what to build next and when a feature is actually done.

The video demonstrates this live by building a prompt library app from scratch. Claude Code connects to Linear through a built-in plugin (a similar flow works in Codex), then automatically generates 90 categorized tasks complete with priority ratings, due dates, and step-by-step acceptance criteria — work that Finn estimates would take a human developer hours to organize manually. The cloud-based task board syncs across devices, so switching from a laptop to an iPad mid-build requires no manual handoff.

A bonus section covers adding Slack to the same pipeline for team environments, enabling task assignment and async progress tracking. Because the workflow is built around Linear’s MCP integration rather than any single AI tool, it remains largely model-agnostic — useful for anyone working with Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor. Linear’s free tier covers most solo developer needs with no credit card required.
