Summary
Riley Brown shows how to build an app for Apple’s newly announced iPhone Duo using Claude Opus 5.5 inside the Claude desktop app, with no prior coding experience required. The tutorial is organized into four steps, beginning with the setup: a Mac (he uses a MacBook Pro M4), the Claude desktop app with Claude Code, Xcode with the version 27.1 beta that adds the Duo simulator, and optionally Convex as a cloud database.
The second step is choosing an idea and prototyping it. Brown builds a scrapbook-style app that pairs a sticker and image generator on one side of the Duo’s two screens with an Excalidraw-style board on the other. Users can search for an image such as Dario Amodei, remove its background using remove.bg, turn it into a sticker, and drag it onto the board. He supplies API keys for image search and background removal.
The generation took about 37 minutes and produced a working app in a single prompt, which he tests live in the simulator, including opening, closing and full-screening the device. The video then moves on to storing the data in Convex so that boards can be shared across devices, and explains how Convex’s Claude Code plugin gives an AI agent a real-time backend, logs and file storage.
