Summary
Matt Wolfe recaps a busy week in AI, starting with OpenAI’s Dev Day, which Wolfe attended in person. The biggest announcement was dots, described as remarkably capable, always-on agents with no model selector: a dot decides for itself whether to use Codex, Work or chat mode. Wolfe, who had about a week of early access, highlights how proactive it is, with alerts about important emails, urgent Slack messages, a delayed flight and a personal scratchpad that assembled a Dev Day agenda. Wolfe also notes the downsides, including availability limited to Pro and business plans in eligible markets.
Other Dev Day news covers Pages, which Wolfe compares to Notion inside ChatGPT, ChatGPT Spaces, collaborative slides, ChatGPT in Slack and Teams, and a meetings plugin that looks like a Granola competitor. Sign in with ChatGPT lets developers have users’ own accounts cover AI usage costs, and OpenAI also announced a $500 a month Pro tier and another iteration of its marketplace.
The roundup also touches on new model news from Anthropic and Google, along with a sponsored look at Optimizely’s virtual teammate for SEO and AI search visibility, tested on futuretools.io.
