Descriptions:

Alex Finn presents a deep dive into Claude Skills — a structured system of markdown-based specialist prompt files that extend Claude Code’s capabilities for specific, repeatable workflows. Unlike rules in claude.md, which load with every prompt and consume context regardless of relevance, Claude Skills are only activated when the user invokes them, making them significantly more token-efficient and consistent in output.

Finn covers six skills sourced from the Claude Code community and Anthropic product managers: a frontend design skill that generates polished, non-generic UIs without blue-purple gradient ‘AI slop’; a domain name search skill that checks real-time availability without manual browser searches; a Stripe integration skill that handles payment flows, webhooks, and subscription management correctly on the first attempt; and additional workflow-specific skills for other common build tasks. Each skill is demonstrated inside a project management app, with Finn showing the before/after difference in output quality and walking through the installation process — creating a `.claude/skills/` folder and dropping in the markdown files.

The video also explains the technical underpinning: Claude Skills are standardized, shareable prompt structures, meaning teams or communities can distribute them freely. For developers repeatedly implementing the same features across projects — especially Stripe, frontend design, or deployment configs — Claude Skills offer a meaningful reduction in both iteration time and token spend. Installation links for all six skills are in the video description.
