Descriptions:
In this live coding session, Creator Magic builds an AI-powered video editor from scratch using Claude Fable 5 and Claude Code — no templates, no monthly SaaS fees. The goal: a fully automated pipeline that takes long-form YouTube recordings and cuts them into vertical short-form clips for YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram without the creator touching a traditional editor.
The technical stack centers on Remotion for programmatic video composition and FFmpeg at the rendering layer, an approach directly inspired by an Anthropic engineer who used the same tools to edit Claude Fable 5’s own launch video entirely through code and tool calls. For transcription, the creator compares three options — Parakeet (fully local and free), OpenAI Whisper, and ElevenLabs Scribe — settling on Parakeet for offline capability while keeping the others available via API key.
The session also delivers a frank look at Fable 5’s cost structure. At $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, the creator calculates that running Fable 5 across recent projects would have cost $93,000, leading to a sensible tiered strategy: Fable 5 for architecture and security review, Opus 4.8 as the daily workhorse, and Haiku for high-volume lightweight tasks. The long-term vision is full autonomy — the moment a stream ends in OBS Studio, the pipeline triggers automatically, adds captions and motion graphics, and distributes clips across all platforms without human intervention.
